Prolonged Gratification Award: Scritti is back!

One of the albums I never tire of listening to, and always come back to, is Scritti Politti's Songs to Remember. So much is the love for this structuralist band (yes, Green is quite pretentious, just check the track "Jacques Derrida")that last time I was in Lisbon I almost slept with the 1982 vinyl---an imported vinyl as it was not released in Portugal. In the states I have the CD I bought in London in 2001 when I went bankrupt in the city's megastores two weeks after 9/11. I have even sampled the divine "Lions After Slumber" (mp3 excerpt) into my own "Propensity" (mp3) track (with a wink to Karl Popper as I am equally pretentious).

I can't believe I have been in love with this album for almost 25 years! Now I hear that a new Scritti album is on the way!. There is even a taste of it with the new track "Boom Boom Bap". Oh yes, the summer is coming and there is a new Scritti Politti album. I bet next year is going to be better than the past one!

By the way, 1982 was a pretty amzing year in music. Just consider the list of best albums of the year by the now defunct Melody Maker:
