I see this as a failure of fighting for civil rights group by group (inventing "identities" ?) rather than fighting for general civil rights. Though, I am afraid the result of this situation will be the opposite: a stronger call for "Hispanics" to organize as a group and fight this discrimination as such. Which, given the fact-of-life of the present identity-politics dicourse, probably makes pragmatic sense...
